Charmander first appeared in episode 11 of Pokémon Indigo League. Known as the torch Pokémon, Charmanders are small, lizard- like Pokémon. Since appearing in Pokémon, Charmander has received very positive reception.

It has appeared in several pieces of merchandise, including figures, plush toys and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. There are many different Charmander cards since the TCG launched.

This card was exclusively released in Japanese McDonald’s restaurants for a limited time in 2002. Each Happy Meal contained a booster pack with six cards, including at least one Holofoil card. The cards in this set were compatible with Nintendo’s e-Reader peripheral. This particular card, in very good condition can average around $230.

The Pokémon-ex are a type of Pokémon that first appeared in the EX Ruby and Sapphire expansion. The “ex” in the name stands for extra, as indicated by a wide range of attacks. The main difference between Pokémon-ex and other Pokémon is that when Pokémon -ex are knocked out, two Prize cards are taken, as opposed to one. 

Released in November of 2003, Ex Dragon was the 18th expansion of the Pokémon TCG. This Charmander was first released as a Secret Rare card in a Japanese Gift Box, then later reprinted as a Secret Box Topper. This card is considered Ultra-Rare and averages around $300.

This card has a beautiful Reverse Holo Foil graphic, which gives the card a firework tint. This card was part of the XY: Evolutions and was the 71st expansion of the Pokémon TCG. It was released in November of 2016. The card is listed as common, since there have been a lot of them printed. However, it is still a very cool looking card with decent stats. In Mint PSA grade 10 condition, this card goes for around $300.

This card was a part of the Pokémon-e: Expedition Base Set, the first main expansion of cards from the e-Card series. This set was released on September 15, 2002, while the Japanese expansion was released on December 1, 2001. The Expedition Base Set also introduced an updated card design, which included numerous changes. The borders were changed to allowed the card to be read by the e-reader.  This card can sell for up to $500.

Pokémon Topps are trading cards that were first released in 1999. They are collectible cards that featured Pokémon from the Kanto region, and later on the Johto series characters. These cards came in sealed foil packets like most other cards, each pack had seven standard cards with one foil card. The PSA has this card listed, with a grade 9, at $255. However, on websites like eBay, this card is currently listed all the way up to $15,000.

Charmander 64 Mario Stadium Best Photo Contest 1999

1999 Charmander (64 Mario Stadium Best Photo Contest) 

Three months after the release of the 1999 Pokémon Snap game, two contests were run to promote the game. CoroCoro Comic and Nintendo- hosted photo contests for participants to send in their best photos from Pokémon Snap. This contest was initially advertised in the June 1999 issue of the CoroCoro Comic, released on May 15, 1999. Participants had to play the game and take pictures of the Pokémon, then they had to save the pictures into their game’s “Gallery” feature. After, they had to go to a local Lawson store where a special machine would print the stickers from a Nintendo 64 Pokémon Snap cartridge. 

The winning cards featured the winner’s name in the Illustrator credit, and it read “Photo by Tsukasa Hosono” for the Charmander card. PSA only started grading the full sets as of 2017. Due to their distribution, finding one in mint condition is almost impossible. This card sells for around $96,000 if it is in almost perfect condition.
