Arceus is a Pokémon that is typically a Normal-type, that was first announced in Generation IV. Some people talk about Arceus being the God of the Pokémon world. This is because Arceus is thought to have created the Pokémon Sinnoh region, Legendary Titans, and the Lake Guardian Trio. This is a very big feat for a Pokémon that was only officially recognized by Nintendo in early 2009.

Arceus has been featured in numerous video games and has movies based on this Pokémon. There is also a new video game starring this Pokémon titled: Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Arceus is a very powerful Pokémon that was widely introduced in Generation IV. Arceus is featured in numerous Pokémon games, movies and now is the star of the Pokémon Legends: Arceus game on the Nintendo Switch. With all of the spotlight being shown on this Pokémon, you would think Arceus would be featured on more Pokémon cards.

Arceus Pokémon cards are pretty easy to come by and do not get graded that often unless they are valuable. The average price for Arceus is between $20 to $700 on average. Though, like all Pokémon cards, Arceus card prices can widely vary on online auctions. 

Characteristics And Element Of Arceus

Arceus is a Normal-type Pokémon, it is also the only Pokémon that has the ability Multitype, depending on the Plate that Arceus is holding, it can change its type. Arceus hooves, eyes, and cross around its body change color depending on the Plate that the Pokémon is holding. Most of Arceus cards depict it holding a Plate if its Pokémon type is anything other than its regular Normal-type.

Arceus is also a trio master of the Creation Trio and the Lake Guardians that protect Sinnoh. Even though Arceus is an ancient and powerful Pokémon, it does not evolve. Arceus is a very ancient Pokémon that is very strong, but also weak against Fighting-type Pokémon.  

2009 Pokémon Platinum Arceus LV.X- Holo Arceus

This Arceus LV.X card was included in the Pokémon Platinum- Arceus expansion released on November 4, 2009, and is one of the three Arceus LV.X cards released in this expansion. This expansion was the final expansion for the Platinum series of the Trading Card Game featuring Generation IV Pokémon. This card features a Holo Colorless-type Arceus LV.X Pokémon with artwork by Shizurow.

This Arceus LV.X card is a Rare Holo card that has very visually appealing artwork. The orientation of Arceus makes it appear to be flying out of the artwork box with a very stern look to it. The lower half of this card also features the Platinum: Arceus logo stretched out, in Holofoil. This card has a pretty decently low population and that also helps the value of this card to maintain a decent price.

PSA Population Report:

A total of 214 of these Arceus cards have been graded by the PSA. The lowest grade, with 1 card, is a VG- EX4 grading. The most common grade given, with 108 cards, is a Mint 9 condition. This Arceus card has only been graded a perfect Gem Mint 10 grade 26 times. 

2009 Pokémon Platinum Arceus LV.X- Holo Arceus

This Arceus LV.X card was also released in the Pokémon Platinum- Arceus expansion in November of 2009. This card features a Colorless-type LV.X Pokémon with artwork by Ryo Ueda. The artwork is illustrated in a way that makes Arceus hoove pop out of the artwork box. The background is made of a cosmic Holofoil with colorful specks in it. This card has a lower population than that of the other two Arceus LV.X cards released in this expansion and its price is almost matched with the Arceus LV.X #94 card. 

PSA Population Report:

Only 170 of these Arceus LV.X cards have been graded by the PSA. The lowest grade given, with only 1 card, is a Good 2 grade. The most common grade given, with 91 cards, is a Mint 9 condition. There is a very low Mint 10 population for this card, with only 19 cards receiving this grade. 

2009 Pokémon Platinum Arceus LV.X- Holo Arceus

This Arceus LV.X #95 card is the third Arceus card released in the Platinum- Arceus expansion. This card also features a Colorless-type LV.X Arceus with artwork by Ryo Ueda. The gold wheel with jewels attached to Arceus’ body pops with the yellow streaks coming from it. Like the other two Arceus LV.X cards in the expansion, this card is also a rare Holofoil card. Arceus LV.X #95 also has a decently low population but is worth slightly less than the other two Arceus LV.X cards.

This Arceus LV.X card from the Platinum expansion has been graded by the PSA 194 times. The lowest grade given, with only 1 card, is a VG 3 grading. The most common PSA grade, with 126 cards, is a Mint 9 grading. There are only 14 of these Arceus cards that have received a perfect Mint 10 PSA grading. 

2009 Pokémon Platinum Arceus- Holo Arceus

This Arceus card is also included in the Pokémon Platinum- Arceus expansion, and one of 9 Pokémon in the AR Arceus subcategory. Generation IV introduced plates, which is an item that Arceus holds to change its Pokémon type. This particular Arceus card features a Fighting-type Pokémon and to make that happen, Arceus is pictured with an Earth Plate in the bottom left of the artwork box. This card has artwork by Hajime Kusajima and the Platinum- Arceus expansion symbol on this card also protrudes into the artwork box. This Arceus HP on this card is 80, which is significantly lower than most of the other Arceus cards in this expansion.

2009 Japanese Design Contest Arceus Promo- Shonen Sunday Magazine

This Arceus promo card is an unnumbered Japanese promo card that was released to the winner of the Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine drawing contest; Shonen Sunday was one of the 13 magazines to host this drawing contest. This promo was for the release of the 12th Pokémon movie: Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life and the card design contest was held between late February and late April of 2009 and focused around Arceus and Spiky-eared Pichu. This Arceus card design was given out to contestants for them to color with the best design. This Arceus card was one of 7 to be selected as a winning design for Arceus.

This Arceus Design Contest card has only been graded by the PSA 5 times. The lowest grade given, with only 1 card receiving this grade, is an NM 7 condition. There are only 2 of these Arceus cards that have received a perfect Mint 10 PSA condition. 

2009 Japanese Design Contest Arceus Promo- Corocoro Ichiban!

This card was released as an unnumbered Japanese promo card being released as part of the Corocoro Ichiban! promos. This was a Pokémon card design contest that 13 Shogakukan magazines participated in.  This particular Arceus card was chosen for a winner from the 5th grade. Participants in this contest had to provide what grade they were in, to make sure one winner from every grade was picked. This design was illustrated by Ryoga Kawai and features a cool Earth/Water/Fire concept in the background.

This Arceus Corocoro promo card has a very low population, with only 5 cards being graded by the PSA. There are 2 of these cards that have been graded a Mint 9 condition. Only 3 of these Arceus Corocoro promo cards have received a Mint 10 grading. 

2019 Pokémon Sun & Moon Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX Cosmic Eclipse- Full Art

This card was featured in the Pokémon: Sun & Moon- Cosmic Eclipse expansion that was released in November of 2019. This expansion was the twelfth and final expansion of the Sun & Moon series for Pokémon cards. This set was pretty cool for the fact that it introduced TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX, which featured 3 Pokémon that shared at least one Pokémon- type. This particular card features three Dragon-type Pokémon-GX, Arceus & Dialga & Palkia. The artwork for this special Full Art print is illustrated by Kouki Saitou and shows the three Pokémon as statues with shimmering Holo throughout the card. Tag team cards are pretty hard cards to find in the Pokémon Trading Card Game universe, this card does have a pretty high population amount, bringing down its value.

This Arceus/Dialga/Palkia Cosmic Eclipse card has a PSA graded population of 544 cards. The lowest grade given, with 5 cards receiving this grade, is an EX-MT 5 grading. The most common grade is also a Mint 10 condition, with a population of 295 cards. 

2009 Japanese Design Contest Arceus Promo 6th Grade Winner

This card was also a part of the multiple Shogakukan magazines that held a card design contest for the promo of the Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life movie. This Arceus card was the winner for the 6th grade and was illustrated by Mikako Nishizaki. The bottom left of the card has a gold foil stamp that says Pokémon Card Game Design Contest: Highest Award to the right side of the movie logo. Because this promotion only released a small amount of these cards, their population remains relatively low.

2009 Pokémon Platinum Arceus- Holo Arceus

This Arceus #AR1 card is also one of the 9 Arceus cards that hold a Plate item in the Platinum expansion. This particular Arceus is shown as a Darkness-Type Pokémon illustrated by Kawayoo. The artwork shows Arceus with a Dread Plate, which Arceus uses to change its type. These 9 Arceus cards are unique because they introduced Plate items. Plate items change Arceus Pokémon type and boost the attack power. This card has a Mint condition of only 27, but because the demand for this card is low, this card’s price reflects that.

Included in the 2009 Japanese Advent of Arceus expansion is this 1st Edition Arceus card. This Japanese set was released ten days before the movie premiere of Pokémon Arceus: To a Conquering Spacetime. This Arceus card, like the Arceus #AR1 card, features a Darkness-type Pokémon holding the Dread Plate and is the 1st Edition version for this card. This cards illustration is also by Kawayoo and showcases Arceus with the Dread Plate. You can also see the sun glistening off a planet in the background. Only 12 of these 1st Edition Arceus cards have been PSA graded, but the value of this card tends to average at $385.
